Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable Salvage Yard Parts Puller to safely extract and prepare usable auto parts from salvaged vehicles. This role involves locating vehicles, dismantling components using hand and power tools, inspecting parts for quality, and maintaining an organized, hazard-free yard. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and possesses a strong foundational knowledge of automotive mechanics.

Key Responsibilities:
- Locate targeted vehicles on the lot and safely extract components (alternators, engines, transmissions, sheet metal, etc.) using hand, air, and power tools.
- Inspect all pulled parts for cracks, wear, or damage to ensure quality control before inventorying.
- Safely drain hazardous vehicle fluids (oil, coolant, fuel), remove batteries, and dismantle tires to prepare components for storage or sale.
- Properly tag and label extracted parts with exact vehicle data (year, make, model) and stage them for the warehouse or customer pickup.
- Maintain yard cleanliness and safety by clearing hazards like scrap metal, nails, and fluid spills, and assist in moving vehicles using a forklift.
- Adhere strictly to company safety protocols, environmental regulations, and OSHA standards when handling heavy machinery or hazardous materials.
- Assist coworkers with heavy extractions and support customers navigating the salvage lot.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Proven automotive knowledge and hands-on experience with basic mechanics and vehicle assembly.
- Experience operating a forklift daily is preferred (ability to obtain certification is required).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Ability to read job orders and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication skills to interact with management, colleagues, and the public; bilingual is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Regular standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling in, under, and around wrecked vehicles.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle tools and feel components for damage.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy auto parts up to 50 lbs. regularly, and up to 75 lbs. occasionally with assistance.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor work in all types of weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, dust) on gravel, dirt, or concrete surfaces.
- Active, fast-paced yard environment with exposure to loud noises, odors, and chemical fumes.
